Matt Lyon
Senior Project Manager (Sustainable economies)
Based in Canberra, Matt is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of work that delivers significant impact on national and sub-national economies with a focus on the role of government in accelerating action towards achieving net zero emissions. This is achieved through supporting net zero strategies and aligned policy encouraging green economic diversification that takes into account economic and development co-benefits that a shift towards sustainable economies can deliver.
Prior to joining Climateworks, Matt worked as a chartered engineer throughout regional and metropolitan Australia in the manufacturing, mining and water utilities sectors, developing solutions across the entire asset lifecycle.
His most recent role was as the National Decarbonisation Lead for WSP Australia’s water group where he worked on carbon accounting and decarbonisation strategies for clients; published thought leadership articles on water sector decarbonisation pathways; and developed company-wide decarbonisation methodologies, tools and business strategies.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Sustainable Energy Systems, and Materials and Mechanical Systems from the Australian National University, Canberra.
