Kulja Coulston
Communications Lead
Currently on 12 months professional development leave*, Kulja is the Climateworks communications lead and director of our multidisciplinary group of editorial, design, digital, content, knowledge and UX specialists.
Drawing on over two decades’ experience operating in busy production and media settings, Kulja scales Climateworks’ communications and knowledge sharing activities in line with the organisation’s continued growth. This includes translating analysis to suit a range of content types and platforms, and developing communication and knowledge strategies to motivate business, policy and industry towards net zero solutions.
Kulja has extensive experience as an independent journalist focused on sustainability and renewable energy sector transitions – most recently as managing editor of ‘Sanctuary: Modern green homes’ magazine. She’s also been part of specialist teams within the ABC, Mitchell Institute and Renew. Kulja hosts a weekly talk-radio program and podcast on Triple R in Melbourne and is an inaugural director of the Wetlands Revival Trust, which was established to revitalise ecosystems in the Southern Murray Darling Basis – a biodiversity hotspot.
Kulja has qualifications in journalism, politics and information management at RMIT, and systems change and policy at ANU’s Crawford School of Public Policy. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a past Strategic Communications Fellow at the Economics Media Centre.
