Jarrod Grainger-Brown

Senior Research Officer

Jarrod provides research and analysis across all projects in the Cities system, including transport, built environment, infrastructure and city governance.

He is responsible for developing project specific methodologies, conducting original research, project managing the analysis activities, generating knowledge products, and establishing broader research,quality and validity processes across the Cities team. He also co-leads the Net Zero Cities project, which seeks to enable transformative decarbonisation in Australian cities across city planning, multi-level governance, inter-city collaboration and urban sectoral emissions. 

Before joining Climateworks, Jarrod conducted community field ethnographies in India, researched informal settlement revitalisation in Fiji, and investigated sustainable city transformation across Europe. He also co-founded two start-ups and has been recognised as a Westpac Future Leader for his work researching city government engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Jarrod holds a Masters of International Development Practice and a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) Global Challenges, both with Monash University. He has also submitted his PhD in sustainable urban development/urban transformation with Monash Sustainable Development Institute, Monash University.
