Emma Peterson

Policy Manager

Emma manages policy for Australia in the International and Country Context team. She provides expert policy advice, and support for policy change-focused projects driving substantial emissions reduction across the Australian economy. Emma also supports our system teams, facilitating opportunities to amplify our impact by taking a policy approach. She keeps Climateworks up-to-date with global trends, and shares our knowledge and resources.

Emma has an extensive background in climate change and energy fields across the UK, US and Australia. Before joining Climateworks, Emma was lead coordinator for the Energy Sector Pledge and, while working with the Victorian Government, was a key contributor to the state’s Climate Change Strategy. While she has also worked in climate change adaptation, major energy projects and renewable energy policy, Emma started her career as an engineer working in the private sector, including working on an offshore gas platform.

Emma holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (Mechanical) and a Bachelor of Commerce, both from the University of Western Australia. As a student, Emma completed an exchange with McGill University in Canada.
