Mei Zi works within Climateworks’ Energy System team, supporting the development of programs to accelerate energy transition through carbon market and trading mechanisms in Southeast Asia.

Previously, Mei Zi worked as a Research fellow at the National University of Malaysia and the University of Science Malaysia, and as sessional teaching staff at Monash University Business School. She also worked as a senior tax consultant at BDO and KPMG.

Mei Zi has published several conference papers on the design and performance of carbon markets in Europe and Asia. She has a PhD in Environmental Law and Bachelor of Business and Commerce, both at Monash University, and a Masters in Accounting, from The National University of Malaysia.
