Our natural resources are an asset. ‘Natural capital’ positions our environment alongside other forms of economic management to inform decision making.
Despite many examples of innovative and sustainable land management practices, a barrier to broader adoption is the readiness of tools and systems to enable adequate and consistent measurement of ‘natural capital’. These tools are a way to value the environment and integrate this as part of land management, financial and policy decision-making.
The Natural Capital Roadmap presents the ideas of over 300 leaders in farming, forestry, natural resource management, conservation, finance, policy, research and government on how to progress the natural capital agenda in Australia.
The Roadmap was developed in collaboration with our partners from the Queensland government and NAB, with significant contributions from workshop and summit attendees. It aims to support sustainable land use transitions through the measurement and valuation of natural capital.
