Growing prosperity does not require growing emissions. Southeast Asia and the Pacific have the chance to leapfrog redundant technologies and thrive in a decarbonised world.

If countries with developing economies are to achieve global climate targets and sustain economic growth at the same time, they need an alternative path to prosperity. That pathway should avoid the environmental, social and economic costs that are the hallmarks of dependence on fossil fuels.

The funding to support countries with developing economies to tackle climate change is significant. The next challenge lies in countries strategically deploying these funds. How well this is delivered is critical: It will determine their long term prosperity and wellbeing.

In response, Climateworks developed the Pathways to Prosperity program to support developing countries in achieving the lowest possible emissions development alongside the Sustainable Development Goals.
