1. Introduction
Vietnam’s corporate sector holds significant potential to catalyse momentum toward net zero by 2050 while ensuring their global competitiveness.
Small and medium enterprises comprise more than 97 per cent of businesses in Vietnam.
Vietnamese businesses face a complex transition landscape marked by limited access to finance, fragmented technical support, lack of clarity in regulatory environment and limited market readiness which risk to stall progress on corporate decarbonisation/credible transition planning.
Challenges include:
- Limited knowledge and technical capacity to assess emissions, develop credible transition plans and articulate climate-related risks into planning
- Lack of access to guidance, tools, or case studies that reflect the Vietnamese business context
- Limited connection between businesses and regulators, investors, or green technology providers
- Gaps in corporate climate governance and reporting, making it difficult to meet emerging international ESG expectations regarding compliance and green trade standards.
What we’re doing
Climateworks Centre, in partnership with Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is supporting the establishment of a Vietnam Net Zero Hub to foster collaboration, accelerate credible corporate climate action and build capacity across Vietnam:
- Laying the foundations for a Net Zero Hub, a long-term collaborative platform to support businesses with credible transition planning, knowledge exchange, and foster public-private partnerships.
- Providing tools, insights and strategic dialogue through workshops, case studies and peer learning to guide companies on practical steps toward credible transition planning.
- Equipping participants from across industries with the tools to assess climate-related risks, develop effective strategies and implement practical solutions tailored to their business context.
