Among the property companies considered by the Net Zero Momentum Tracker, the Dexus Property Group’s net zero emissions commitment is comparatively ambitious and comprehensive. Dexus is Australia’s largest owner and manager of office property and has committed to achieve net zero emissions across its property portfolio by 2030. This target has been certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and recognised as in line with a ‘below 1.5°C’ pathway.

In 2019, Dexus published New Energy New Opportunities, its strategy for achieving net zero emissions. This strategy addresses emissions by electrifying buildings, supplying electricity from on and off-site renewables, negotiating long term renewable power purchase agreements and reducing energy consumption through smart building technologies. Dexus have subsequently published Towards Climate Resilience, which reinforces its climate commitments and presents scenario analysis, developed to inform the Group’s climate action strategy.

Dexus has committed to both the EP100 and RE100 initiative. Because of its commitment to net zero emissions, sustainability disclosure and ongoing focus on portfolio resilience, Dexus earned a position on CDP’s Climate Change A List in 2019.
